Dear fans of the accordion - and everybody who intends to become a fan!
For the 6th time, the International Accordion Festival takes place on Viennas stages. In the Danube metropolis, it became an institution - and a secret international tip. The warm and hot accordion sounds - either experimental, traditionall or both - will expell the winter and introduce the spring. With individual, thrilling and innovative projects, the festival offers a forum for networking, communication, discussions and interaction, thus creating structures for relaxation, concentrated listening and sozialization.
An international class meeting - familiar and opened to the world: these are the characteristics of the Accordion Festival.
Visitors and fans can only hardly remember the days before this festival had its birth - that shows how deeply this event is placed into the cultural memory of the city. From February 26th to March 28th, 101 artists from 17 countries will perform in 19 locations.
Once again, this years' festival has new stilistic main targets. A noticeable place is granted to the ironical, borderlining, exploring new imaginary musical rooms. This is also related to a strong presence of female artists.
The special ambience of the Jugenstil Theatre is the background for the opening concert, with the spectacular reincarnation of the "Divina Ziehharmoniker" with Otto Lechner, who already created the clever fun-music at the end of the 80ties, offering a cool counter-part to all known stilistic classes.
And not to mention the 3 finali of the festival! Sure thing, no errata. The festival will end with three especially hot concerts, including Gaucho-Grooves from South-Brazil, Roma-Grooves from Bulgaria as well as happy Cajund and hot-blooded Austrian Tex-Mex.
A little time to relax as interludes: Musette, Latin, Swing, Tango and Tango Nuevo, World Music, Klezmer, Ethno-Fusion, Accordionjazz - in all possible relations of mixing and innovation.
